Mitchell Caravan Park

We have arrived at Mitchell (West of Roma)! Home for the next two weeks! It's NOT a big town - population was 400 odd before the recent floods - half that now. We've set up Bruce complete with awning & it's very cosy! We even have our own ensuite! This is luxurious caravaning (at a cost) - considering we haven't paid for camping sites to date & have not had a hot shower since Tuesday! We visited the Historical Village at Miles which was very interesting & stayed at Gill Weir just out of Miles. We saw lots of 'cactus trees' which looked like quite neat plants - we found out that they wrecked farming in this area in the early 1900s & it wasn't until an insect from South America was introduced that decimated the 'Prickly Pear' that farming could be resumed in about 1925! The 'cactus trees' were & are a noxious weed!
Live entertainment has just started up in the form of an old guy playing the keyboard - Grey Nomads are sitting around the fire pit listening to the tunes being 'belted out' - fabulous! I'm off to join in!

On The Road!

We left Amamoor on Tuesday 23 July for our Qld Adventure! We only did 70 km the first night & reached Chinchilla last night. We've seen the Kinbombi Falls, Bjelke Petersen Dam, Wondai Timber Museum & the Chinchilla Weir. It's so good to have very little housework & no other responsibilities but cooking a simple meal, planning our route & not running out of petrol!
We're heading somewhere between Miles & Roma tonight. Weather cool but sunny!

The day after Phil's & Jill's 60th!

Hi all,
I have finally had success with uploading photos (thanks to Angie - John's sister), so I will now hopefully make regular posts to this blog.
To give you a quick update - the Tidy's are still in Amamoor but not for long - in two weeks we will be heading West of Brisbane to the town of Mitchell. I have two weeks teaching at the local school. From Mitchell we'll head North & see where we end up! We've been busy at our place - cleaning, gardening & getting the orchard back into 'shape'. Don (Julia's Dad) is going to look after the orchard while the Tidy's continue their travels - hooray for Don!
Last night we were in Caloundra for Jill & Phil's 60th birthday party - feeling a bit slow today! The photo is of the team who are staying in Caloundra.
